Re-building an engineering spirit by Kuba Marchwicki
Re-building an engineering spirit
So you find yourself in a place where developers don’t test - because it’s a job for testers. Testers don’t test - because there is no time for that. And if they test, they don’t document - not budget for that. Customers don’t pay - because they actually test. Agile to the bone... or is it not? In this talk, where all characters appearing in this work are fictitious and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental, I’ll zoom in certain examples, how little step by little step, an engineering spirit was rebuilt. How “I don’t have time testing” engineers started reading Uncle Bob instead of reddit.com, where testers started to code, where architecture evolution and design improvement became a natural thing. How XP values were just implemented with no managers announcing it.
